Golf Getaway - Spring Break 2008

Grab your clubs and join us for a dream getaway in Florida! We headed out for the airport right after church on Easter Sunday and this was our destination! Monday and Tuesday were sunny but "cool" for Florida - only 68-70 degrees. We loved it!
We didn't actually swim in our pool until Saturday - we were too busy galivanting around the state golfing, sightseeing, and visiting.
There was plenty of beautiful nature right outside our door.
And then there was our rental car - who could ask for anything more?
We golfed on Monday, and spent 8 hours touring the Kennedy Space Center on Tuesday. There is a ton of interesting things to see and do there - I'd been back in 1973 and again in the early 90's. What a difference! We'd like to go back and take in some of the historical tours, but our tickets are only good for the next 7 days for a return visit. Oh well. Maybe next year.
We got to go in the shuttle, touched a moon rock, and toured a building where they are assembling the next pieces of the space station.
On Wednesday we headed for Ft. Meyers and hooked up with Ted and Pat at the Twins game.
It was a Bobblehead give-away day - and I won!!! Nobody else - just me. I got a Torii Hunter with a gold glove trophy! I think all the winners got leftover ones from last year, but who's complaining?
This is the new pitcher, Ivan Hernandez, who made a fantastic play by kicking the ball to first when he couldn't bend down and pick up the ball fast enough. I'm sure that play will go in the record books!
Afterwards we had supper at Ted and Pat 's favorite restaurant called The Parrot Key. The sea food was magnifique ( yum-m-m-m yum! ) and the company was delightful!
The birds were looking for a handout, too.
We stopped at the gulf to stick our toes in on the way back to Kissimmee.
The water was COLD!
Br-r-r-!
On Thursday we golfed again at Tiger's home course called Windemere. You never know what creatures are around to steal your ball.
Watch out for the alligator!!!!
Like I said - yup - he's real!
This course is the one we played on Friday on Merritt Island near Kennedy Space Center. Plenty of water to hit your ball in. In fact, the driving range was into a big pond and they used floating balls! No kidding!
Finally, a picture of Spanish moss. I was waiting all week to get a good picture of it.
Friday night we ate at the Sunset Bar and Grill at Cocoa Beach, visited Ron Jon's Surf Shop, and stuck our toes in the Atlantic. From coast to coast in two short days!
Here's Paulie washing the sand off his feet before we get back in that cool convertible.

Sorry - that's all folks. You'll have to come over to see the whole photo album. I think I have about 120 pictures to print out at the photo kiosk at the grocery store this weekend. Well, maybe I won't print ALL of them.

Happy spring to you all - and watch out for the alligators :)
