Summer Fun Continues into Fall!

Boy, the fun just keeps on and on and on! I missed posting about the Waterbrooke Youth Campout, the State Fair, the Waterbrooke Ladies Bike Trip, another Twins game, Paul's birthday bash, and the annual CBCH Golf Tournament. Scroll on down for all the details ... well ... maybe an abbreviated account!

Waterbrooke Campgrounds - a great place to camp out because we have all the resources of the church - kitchen, showing late night movies, the lake and plenty of space to play games outside and inside!

Gee - talk about a swanky tent!

How about a little touch football?

Working together - that's what I like to see.

A minute to win it - stacking dice on a popsicle stick! She did it!

Eat an oreo cookie - no hands - start with the cookie on your forehead. You need lots of facial muscles for this one!

Keep all three balloons up in the air for one minute. Sounds easy? Hah! Just try it!

Yum - hot dogs and s'mores.

Just hanging out.

A beautiful sunrise over Lake Wasserman.

OK ladies, gather 'round for the directions to the Root River Bike Trail at Lanesboro, Minnesota.

Here we go, ladies, load 'em up!

Oops ... Gina has a broken spoke. No problemo, just fix it with a bandaid!

I wasn't kidding. Look! She fixed it and rode 30 miles!

What a beautiful day - we couldn't have asked for a nicer one.

The trail follows the Root River.

We rented a side-by-side recumbent bike. It was really fun - I could take pictures while Karen steered:)

We had to cross several bridges and cruise through a couple of little towns, but the best of all was the pie shop - yum!

OK - this is out of order, but I'm not messing with it again! We went to the State Fair BEFORE the bike trip! We headed over early to see Minnesota Hospital at the WCCO booth at 8:00 am and then went to the Miracle of Birth Center and almost saw a calf being born live. We had to settle for the video version. Amazing!

We saw an interview with Garrison Keillor and later went his The Prairie Home Companion show at the Grandstand. It was a beautiful night for an outdoor show.

Wow - that's one, big Croc!

Here's my plan for after I retire - I'll drive a tractor out here on the farm in Waconia!

We saw The Church Basement Ladies at the DNR stage and then hooked up with them for dinner on a park bench by the big slide. they are a hoot!

The fireworks at the end of the grandstand show were really pretty - and my camera did a pretty good job of capturing them, too.

We got some free tickets to a Twins game in September, and decided to take Alison and Elaine. She had never been to Target Field. Roger was recovering from pneumonia and encouraged her to go, so we headed out to the game.

We did a little tour, had some brats, and cheered on the home team.

The Twins lost ... again. So what else is new?

We got back in time to wheel Roger over to the Good Samaritan rehab center - right across the parking lot from the hospital. We had to lend him some Twins gear for the trip, since it had gotten a bit chilly. He looks pretty sharp!

Before we knew it, it was Paul's birthday. Christie, Alison and I came up with a big surprise for the big 6-0! Christie flew in from New York and the girls surprised him at church on his birthday.

Then we gathered a few friends and family members at Island View Golf Course, of course, to enjoy some appetizers and a chance to roast him.

Alison gave him a necklace with some essentials for the elderly. He should wear it at all times in case he needs any of these items they will be close at hand.

Here's Paul and his college buddies singing that famous classic - "The Boom Twirlie song."

Finally ... last, but not least ... we gathered in Cannon Falls on Sunday, Sept 25 for the annual CBCH Golf Classic. Griffin played monkey in the back yeard. Matthew can't wait to be big enough to climb that high!

Maddox is a monkey, too! Ted, Pat, Griffin and Matthew headed back to the cities while Maddox and Charlie joined the golfers - Corey, Jane, Chuck, Andy, Jenna, Paul and me.

Nice putting form, Maddox. Uncle Paul was nice enough to give him a few tips.

Hey Charlie, what happened to your ball?

Well, that's all folks! Whew! I think I need to keep up on this blogging thing more often! People probably won't read all the way to the end:)
