What's New?

What have we been up to lately? Here's a quick update - but no pics! On Staurday the 17th, Ted, Pat, Jane and Chuck met us at Khan's Mongolian Barbecue in Bloomington for my birthday supper! This is a cool resturant - you pick out all your favorite things to stir fry, and they stir fy it for you on these huge, round hot plates! I would have had a picture, but I left my camera hanging on the back of my chair when I went to the buffet line to get the ingredients for my own personal stir fry. I went back to get it while the food was cooking and my camera was GONE! It took a while to figure it out, but the waiter took it and gave it to the hostess behind the bar for safe keeping! I thought it was stolen for sure. By the time we figured out what happened to the camera, my food was ready to eat, and I totally forgot about pictures. Oh well - you all know what we look like, anyways. The food and company was great.

On Memorial Day Paul and I met his brothers Mark and Phil and a couple of friends at Lakeview Golf Course in Orono to tee off at 7:45 (that's a.m. on a vacation day!) for 18 holes. It started out beautiful, but clouded up around the 7th hole and was a bit chilly by the time we ended. We had a fun time - Paul had an 83 for his round - pretty good. It was my first time out since golfing in Florida - I kept looking for alligators - so my score wasn't very respectable. After golfing we went home to clean up, get our food, pick up Paul's dad Roger and Elaine, and head back to Mark's on Lake Minnetonka for a Casey get-together. No water front activities today! Brrrr. What's that you say about global warming??? We had great food, celebrated all the family birthdays since Christmas, and caught up on everyone's activities. No pictures ... again. Well, at least I am posting some news! I'm sure I'll be able to get some good shots this summer.

Extreme Digital Challenge

Last Saturday we were involved in the Waterbrooke Youth Extreme Digital Challenge. Teams of 4-5 kids plus two adults with a vehicle cruised around Victoria looking for places on a list to take creative digital photos. We had to choose ten locations from the list and be back at the church by 6:15. There were prizes for things like the craziest picture, including community people (who were given a Waterbrooke water bottle and invited to church!), first group done, etc.We had a group of dramatic 6th grade girls who made up a story for every location. This was the car dealership, and Mirissa was run over by a stationary car!
At the fire station, we re-enacted the folk tale of the Old Man and the Turnip where all the animals come to help pull it up.
At the tennis courts at Holy Family Catholic High School, they tried to push over the port-o-potty!
The Dairy Queen cashier looks on in amazement as ice cream was smeared all over Katie's face.
The manager at Cabin Fever Sports was very helpful as the girls dressed up for this shot!

We had a fun time with pizza , games, and devotions back at the church while two of our techno geek leaders (Andy and James) downloaded all the different group's pictures for the final reveal.
One group met the sheriff at Subway and had him handcuff them, and another picture had a bride and groom join the group. Maybe they'll come visit Waterbrooke someday. Crazy kids!
